Teaching Philosophy
Each student is unique and special. They have their own personalities and characteristics that make them who they are. I believe the same thing can be said for individual oboe playing. With my students, I break them free from any shells they may have developed and teach them to become confident soloists. I teach my students not to fear the oboe, but to embrace the beauty it can evoke and the joy of playing the instrument. With this understanding, my students can develop their own individual sounds and musical personalities. Along with the art of oboe playing, I teach my students the craft of reed making. They learn to become independent and confident in adjusting and crafting their own, individual reeds. The three golden rules of oboe playing are simple; patience, determination, and discipline. |
